Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Exam 200-301
Network fundamentals, IP connectivity, IP services, security basics, automation, and programmable network devices.
Course overview
CCNA is the single most recognised entry point into a networking career, and it is the qualification most employers in Pakistan screen for before anything else. The programme works through the six domains of Cisco's 200-301 blueprint in the order an engineer actually meets them — how a packet moves, how switches and routers decide where to send it, how addresses are planned, and how the whole thing is secured and monitored. Teaching is lab-led throughout: every topic is configured on real equipment or in Cisco Packet Tracer before it is discussed in the abstract, because the exam tests configuration and troubleshooting, not recall.
Skills you'll gain
- Configure and verify IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting
- Build and troubleshoot VLANs, trunking and inter-VLAN routing
- Configure static routing, OSPFv2 and default routing
- Implement and verify EtherChannel, Rapid PVST+ and port security
- Configure DHCP, DNS, NAT, NTP and syslog services
- Apply access control lists and Layer 2 security hardening
- Configure WLANs through a wireless LAN controller GUI
- Read and write basic REST API calls and JSON for network automation
Learning outcomes
- 01Explain how data moves through a switched and routed network, from frame to packet to segment
- 02Design an IPv4 addressing plan for a multi-site network using VLSM, and verify it end to end
- 03Diagnose a connectivity fault methodically using show and debug output rather than guesswork
- 04Secure switch access ports and filter traffic with standard and extended ACLs
- 05Describe how controller-based and software-defined architectures differ from traditional networking
- 06Sit the Cisco 200-301 exam with full coverage of all six published domains

Frequently asked
Is the exam fee included in the course fee?
No. The Cisco 200-301 exam is booked and paid separately through Pearson VUE. We help with the booking process and advise when you are ready to sit it.
Do I need to buy equipment?
No. Lab work runs on the institute's equipment on campus, and on Cisco Packet Tracer for practice at home, which is free.
How much subnetting will I need to do?
A great deal, and quickly. Subnetting under time pressure is the single most common reason candidates fail, so it is drilled from week two onward rather than taught once.
Does CCNA still have separate ICND1 and ICND2 exams?
No. Cisco consolidated CCNA into a single 200-301 exam in 2020. Any material referring to ICND1 or ICND2, or to CCENT, is out of date.
What should I study after CCNA?
Most students go on to CCNP Enterprise Core (ENCOR 350-401) for depth in routing and switching, DevNet Associate if they are drawn to automation, or CompTIA Security+ if they are moving toward security.
